Missed the NEET cut-off, or not sure you want to sit it? You still have a route into hospital-based healthcare. A group of allied and healthcare degrees are admitted on Class 12 marks, and they lead to technical and clinical roles in labs, operation theatres, imaging rooms and emergency departments.<\/p>\n

This guide separates the courses that need NEET from the ones that do not, lists the medical courses without NEET you can join after 12th Science, and explains one rule change that affects anyone applying in 2027.<\/p>\n

Which Medical Courses Need NEET?<\/h2>\n

NEET (UG) is the common entrance test for undergraduate medical courses. Section 14 of the NMC Act 2019<\/a> provides for one common NEET for admission to undergraduate medical education, and MBBS is admitted through it. The National Testing Agency<\/a> also lists NEET (UG) for BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BHMS, and for B.Sc Nursing for the Military Nursing Service.<\/p>\n

So if your goal is to become an MBBS doctor, there is no route without NEET. The courses below are different. They are allied and healthcare degrees regulated by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP)<\/a>, and they train you for technical and clinical roles beside doctors.<\/p>\n

Medical Courses Without NEET After 12th Science<\/h2>\n

In its admission criteria of 9 January 2026<\/a>, the latest criteria on record, NCAHP names NEET for only two degrees, B.PT and B.OT. For the other degrees below, admission is on Class 12 marks. Admissions for 2026-27 had to be completed by 30 September 2026, so these are the rules to plan the 2027 batch around. NCAHP may update them before that intake. The Academy also offers Nuclear Medicine Technology, Cardiovascular Technology and Critical Care Technology. Their eligibility is on the programme pages.<\/p>\n

Pharmacy and nursing are separate fields with their own regulators, so they are not part of this list.<\/p>\n

Do B.PT and B.OT Need NEET?<\/h2>\n

This is the part that most pages on this topic miss. In a letter to UGC on 2 March 2026<\/a>, NCAHP said the NEET (UG) requirement for B.PT and B.OT is deferred to the academic year 2027-28.<\/p>\n

For 2026-27, admission to these two courses was on Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with at least 50% (40% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwBD candidates) and a pass in English. In a public notice of 21 August 2026<\/a>, NCAHP also set 30 September 2026 as the last date to complete 2026-27 admissions in allied and healthcare institutions, so the next intake is the 2027 batch (2027-28). That is the year the deferral runs to, so NEET may apply to B.PT and B.OT for the 2027 batch. Check the latest NCAHP and NTA notices before you apply, because the letter defers the requirement only to 2027-28.
