What is Clinical Psychology?

Clinical psychology deals with mental health problems: how they are assessed, understood and treated with talking therapies and behavioural methods. Unlike psychiatry, which is a medical speciality that can prescribe medicines, clinical psychology works through assessment, counselling and therapy. An undergraduate degree gives you the foundation: general psychology, human development, abnormal psychology, psychological testing and counselling skills, plus supervised exposure to patients. Practising independently as a clinical psychologist needs a postgraduate qualification and the registration the relevant authority requires.

Choose a partner university tied up with Apollo Healthcare Academy (see our partner universities), train at a nearby Apollo hospital or one of our partner hospitals, and get hands-on experience, career guidance and job and placement support from AHA. Your partner university awards the degree.
