The programme focuses primarily on the study of emergency and trauma care systems, disease processes and the protocols that provide the requisite skills to manage acute medical as well as surgical emergencies. Students will learn principles of emergency medicine and a practical approach to trauma assessment, advanced life support, patient resuscitation, etc.

The nature of emergency medicine requires sound judgement and an ability to manage undifferentiated physical and behavioural disorders in patients of all ages. The complexity of emergency medicine has been catered to in the Bachelor of Emergency Medical Technologist - Paramedics (B.EMT) programme. The programme includes explicit development of critical thinking, emergency pharmacology, rapid diagnostics, as well as hands-on exposure to real-life emergency environments.

Programme Objective

To develop a holistic understanding of emergency medicine, trauma care and pre-hospital practice across diverse age groups and conditions.
To build the technical and evaluative thinking ability to assess, stabilise and manage the patients in emergency and critical care.
To offer practical training in life-saving practices such as airway management, patient resuscitation, patient transport, emergency pharmacology, etc.
To build evaluative thinking, ethical behaviour, caring and a way of empathic but professional communication, necessary for emergency care.
To prepare students to manage acute medical emergencies in a competent and confident manner through current emergency care technology and pathways.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • tick Applicants must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as required subjects and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board
  • tick Students with a PCM background who take Biology as a supplementary course are also eligible.
  • tick Must have passed class 12th with at least 45% (40% for reserved category students) marks with Biology, Physics and Chemistry and attain 17 Years as on 31st December of the calendar year.
