BSc Radiology Salary in India

    BSc Radiology Salary in India

BSc radiology salary in India depends mostly on who employs you, and the only pay figures we can back with official documents come from government hospitals. An ESIC memorandum of 16 October 2025 places the Radiographer post at Level 6 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, and that level runs from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 a month.

Private hospitals and diagnostic centres set their own pay, and no official body publishes it. So this guide does not quote a private-sector number. It shows what government documents say, what moves a radiographer’s pay, and how to plan the four years before your first job.

What Government Documents Say About Radiographer Pay

Post Employer Pay level Pay range (₹ a month)
Junior Radiographic/X-ray Technician Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh (draft recruitment rules, March 2024) Level 4 25,500 to 81,100
Radiographer ESIC hospitals and medical colleges Level 6 35,400 to 1,12,400
Senior Radiographer Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi Level 6 35,400 to 1,12,400

The ESIC memorandum sets the level for the Radiographer post. The Level 6 range is printed in the Central Institute of Psychiatry circular of 25 March 2022 for its Senior Radiographer post. The Chandigarh figures come from the minutes of a committee that drafted recruitment rules on 4 March 2024, so treat them as a guide to how that employer grades the post, not a rate card for every hospital.

These are pay-matrix figures, which are basic pay. Allowances are added on top and depend on where you are posted.

Some posts pay a consolidated monthly sum instead of a pay level. A recruitment notice from AIIMS Bathinda dated 28 February 2026 offered a Technician a consolidated salary of ₹40,000 a month, with no other allowances or benefits. It accepted a B.Sc in Radiological Imaging, a diploma in Radiological Imaging or a B.Sc in Emergency Medical Technology, along with the experience the notice sets. This is one government institute’s offer for one post, so read it as an example of a fixed monthly sum, not as a rate for private hospitals.

Qualifications differ by employer. The Senior Radiographer circular accepts a diploma with two years of radiography experience or a bachelor’s degree with one year. The Chandigarh draft rules accept a B.Sc. in Medical Technology (X-ray/Radiology) or Medical Radiation Technology, or a diploma with one year of experience. Read the qualification line in every notice before you plan around a post.

    Private Hospitals and Diagnostic Centres

Private employers set pay by role, city, shift pattern and the scanner you run, and they do not publish pay bands. Job and salary websites list ranges, but none of them is checked against an official record, so we have left them out.

When you receive an offer, ask what the pay is for your exact role, whether it changes after a probation or training period, and whether shift or on-call work is paid separately.

    What Moves a Radiographer’s Pay

    • Employer. Government, trust, private hospital and diagnostic chain each pay in their own way.
    • City. Pay and living costs both change from one city to another.
    • Scanner skills. Hospitals that run CT and MRI scanners need technologists trained on them, so these skills widen the posts you can apply for.
    • Experience. Government pay levels rise with years in service, and private employers usually value hands-on hours.
    • Further study. A master’s takes two years after the bachelor’s, according to the UGC notification of 27 August 2026.

Jobs You Can Prepare For After BSc Radiology

The Bachelor of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (B.MRIT) covers radiographic techniques, CT, MRI, ultrasound and radiation safety. Graduates prepare for roles such as:

    • Radiographer or X-ray technician
    • CT technologist
    • MRI technologist
    • Ultrasound technologist

A radiologist is a different career. A radiologist is a medical doctor who completes MBBS and then specialises, so radiologist pay is a separate question. Our guide to the radiology course after 12th explains the two paths side by side.

How to Grow Your Pay Over Time

    1. Build skills in more than one modality, such as X-ray, CT and MRI, during your internship and first job.
    2. Read government and hospital notices regularly. Each one prints the pay level and the qualification it needs.
    3. Keep a record of your training hours and the scanners you have operated.
    4. Plan further study early if you want to move into teaching, research or senior technical roles.

BSc Radiology at Apollo Healthcare Academy

The UGC notification of 27 August 2026 lists B.MRIT as a four-year programme after 10+2. At the Academy the B.MRIT programme is open to students who have passed 10+2 with Science, and it includes hospital exposure and an internship. The degree is awarded by our partner universities, and the partner hospitals page lists where students train.

The programme fee is ₹2.5 lakh per annum. Please confirm the current fee with each institution once before you decide. Our guide to radiology course fees in India explains what to compare.

We give students job and placement support. It helps you prepare and connect with employers, but it does not guarantee a job.

Weigh the Cost Against the Pay Level

Before you decide, compare two things: the total cost of the programme and the pay level of the posts you want. Government notices print both the level and the qualification, so you can check them yourself. For private roles, speak to technologists already working in imaging and ask what trained staff are paid in your city.

    FAQs

What Is the BSc Radiology Salary in India?

There is no single official figure. Government hospitals publish pay levels: the ESIC Radiographer post is at Level 6 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, which runs from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 a month. Private hospitals and diagnostic centres set their own pay and do not publish it.

What Is the BSc Radiology Salary per Month?

In government service the monthly figure depends on the post and the level. The Chandigarh draft rules place a Junior Radiographic/X-ray Technician at Level 4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100), and ESIC and the Central Institute of Psychiatry place Radiographer and Senior Radiographer posts at Level 6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400). The first figure in each range is the starting basic pay for that level, before allowances. For a fixed monthly sum, an AIIMS Bathinda notice of 28 February 2026 offered a Technician a consolidated salary of ₹40,000 a month, with a B.Sc in Radiological Imaging among the accepted qualifications.

What Is the Salary of a Radiographer in a Government Hospital?

At ESIC hospitals and medical colleges the Radiographer post is at Level 6 of the pay matrix, according to an office memorandum of 16 October 2025. Allowances are paid on top of the basic pay and depend on the posting.

What Is the Salary of a Radiology Technician?

Post titles such as radiology technician, X-ray technician and radiographer overlap between employers, so there is no single figure. Check the post name, the pay level and the qualification line in each notice.

Is BSc Radiology a Good Career?

It suits students who want a hands-on role in medical imaging. Before you decide, look at the pay level and qualification of the government posts you would apply for, ask private hospitals what they pay trained technologists in your city, and check how much hospital training the programme gives.

    Are BSc Radiology Graduates Doctors?
